Last week, Mindy McLemore and I left the Norwegian Spirit in New Orleans and transferred by cab to the New Orleans airport for our flights home. Several people asked how New Orleans looked. This was the second time I had been there since last October, and I have to say the downtown area - and especially the French Quarter - looks better than before Katrina. The city has focused much of its clean up and rebuilding efforts on the areas where tourists frequent. These photos I took from our cab window bely the real story of the survivors who decided to stay on to start over. So many of the people in New Orleans have heartbreaking stories of loss and tragedy, and lives that were changed forever. We have a major show in the Big Easy this July...I'm looking forward to spending some time there seeing the "rest of the story" beyond the well polished veneer of the downtown tourist areas. Hats off the the city for coming back as well as they have!
